Anoplotrupes stercorosus, the dor beetle, is a species of earth-boring dung beetle belonging to the family Geotrupidae. A relatively small species and very common here in Sweden. The body colour is blue-black, while the underside is usually metallic blue with adults growing up to 12–20 millimetres long.
All illustrations in the series Coleoptera are drawn from my own collection of beetles, sourced ethically and sustainable.
The beetles are pinned and spread entrirely by myself and used directly as a reference for my illustrations.
